The Heidelberg Institute of Global Health (HIGH) is seeking an outstanding, highly-motivated PhD student to join the Design and Implementation Research Group as soon as possible. This opportunity is part of the TULIP Project, an EU-Horizon-funded initiative that explores the socio-ecological dynamics of plastic pollution, AMR, and climate change—aiming to generate transformative, sustainable, evidence-based solutions.

Your tasks
The successful candidate will undertake research exploring existing policies that address plastic pollution and antimicrobial resistance in the Philippines and Italy. The candidate is expected to publish findings in high-impact journals, organize and facilitate innovative knowledge translation methods to disseminate findings to key stakeholders, and be involved in grant writing. When feasible, there will also be opportunities to participate in other policy and knowledge translation research projects within the Design and Implementation Research Group. If desired, the student can mentor master's students, and develop or deliver lectures on ethical and rigorous applications of IKT in global health. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a broad array of experts across the TULIP program from fields including citizen science, microbiology, medicine, mathematical modelling and applied global health research.
Your profile
Essential:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., global health, health policy, social sciences)
- Experience in policy analysis and integrated knowledge translation
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in English (additional languages of the Philippines or Italy are an asset)
Desirable:
- Publications in the field of policy analysis or qualitative research
- Previous experience leading workshops with policymakers
- Previous experience leading workshops with policymakers
