Technology Officer (m/f/d)
wanted for the start on February 1, 2025 at the Department Infectious Disease and Tropical Medicine (IDTM).
Who we are: The Department of Infectious Disease and Tropical Medicine at Heidelberg University Hospital has a clinical and research mandate. The department is embedded in a research-active university campus (incl. the Heidelberg Institute for Global Health). On the research side, we are a diverse team of people from around the globe, all passionate about global health, trying to make a difference for people living in resource-limited settings by improving diagnostic solutions (www.denkglobaldx.org). We are looking for support for our technology team on a full-time basis. The position has a two-year term limit with the intention of acquiring additional grant funding to extend it. Working remotely is possible. Opportunities to pursue a PhD as part of this role may be available for qualified candidates interested in further academic development.

Your tasks
- Conduct research on diagnostic technologies, companies, and products to support technology discovery.
- Devise innovative search strategies and build a robust diagnostic technology network.
- Support the development and enhancement of diagnostic technology databases and tracking systems for emerging tools.
- Prepare summary reports, charts, tables, and figures to present findings effectively.
- Contribute to publications, presentations, and the dissemination of research data.
Your Profile
- At least Master degree or equivalent in molecular biology, life sciences, or a related field and 1+ year of related experience, or equivalent professional experience/training (preferably, knowledge of the diagnostic technologies for infectious diseases)
- Ability to perform technology assessments, including analysis comparing alternatives, characterization and quantification of performance, and comprehension and development of requirements based on project needs
- Ability to work independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize projects
- Strong experience using management/organizational platforms
- Strong interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communication skills
