Research Technician (m/f/d)
wanted for the next possible date at the Centre for Infectious Diseases for the Parasitology
We are looking to recruit a technician for a Gates Foundation funded project to identify novel insecticides for use in malaria control. The appointee will join the Parasitology Unit in the Centre for Infectious Diseases, Heidelberg and will work closely with the team to maintain cell culture and mosquito lines and perform cell-based assays.

Your tasks
Key responsibilities are (but not limited to):
- Maintenance of different cell lines, including human, insect and parasite cells
- Mosquito husbandry and maintenance of insecticide resistance through application of insecticide pressure and colony quality control through routine PCR/qPCR
- Responsible for providing technical assistance to members of the group
- Organisation of the lab where needed, including ordering, contacting internal and external services
- Performing cell-based assays
Your profile
- Technical degree as a research technician (MTA, BTA etc.) or equivalent (undergraduate degree/ master degree)
- Prior experience in laboratory organization and lab work
- Experience with cell culture is desirable
- Advanced skills in software suites such as Microsoft Office and GraphPad
- Ability to work reliably, efficiently and independently.
- Experience in extensive lab book/note keeping
- Willingness to work in an international and highly collaborative team of scientists
- Flexibility to work weekends on a rota system
- Excellent communications skills in English
- German is desirable but not necessary
