Research fellow - Health Economics (m/f/d)

The Institute of Global Health at Heidelberg University, Germany’s oldest university and a leading hub for health-related research in Europe, is looking for an outstanding research fellow in health economics. The position provides the possibility to enrol as PhD candidate according to the applicable rules for doctoral students at Heidelberg University. The research fellow will work under the guidance of Prof. Stefan Listl and other researchers at the Section for Oral Health. Through research and teaching, the Section for Oral Health aims to contribute to optimizing oral health as an integral part of overall wellbeing. The group carries out research locally (Germany), regionally (EU) and globally (particularly in low-resource settings). The research fellow will contribute strong health economics expertise and be involved in collaborative research projects with academic partners and public health organisations such as the World Health Organization. Our areas of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Economic evaluation of interventions for low-resource settings
  • Optimization of provider payment and patient co-payment
  • Design and implementation of digital health interventions
  • Needs-based planning of human resources for health
  • Causal inference: experiments and quasi-experiments

Your Tasks

  • Carry out health economics research
  • Publish in high-impact peer-review journals
  • Contribute to the development of new research projects
  • Contribute to the acquisition of third-party funding
  • Contribute to teaching activities and project management

We are open to discussing options to enrol as PhD candidate and for part-time work.

Your Profile

  • You have a very good Masters degree in health economics or a related field
  • You have a strong expertise in data analytics. Training and experience in quasi-experimental methods is a plus
  • You have good coding skills in R, Stata, Python, or other statistical software packages
  • Good communication skills in English; good communication skills in German are a plus
  • You have good social, communication and organsiational skills and are a team player
